KSC is pleased to Offer training opportunities for Summer School.

REGISTRATION IS NOW LIMITED.  PLEASE CONTACT JASON MONGRAIN PRIOR TO REGISTRATION TO ENSURE SPACE.

Summer Camp begins on July 1st and runs for 7 consecutive weeks.  Training for weeks 1-5 is a the Capital News Centre in Kelowna.  Weeks 6 & 7 will be at the Rutland Arena in Kelowna. 

Week # 7 will have a separate registration form and schedule, to be available at a later date. 

Week #7 will only be offered to skaters registered for the 2018 BC Summer Skate Competition.

CANSKATE – ‘TOTS’ (Learn-To-Skate)

The focus of this Program is to teach 3 - 5 year olds how to skate within a relaxed & fun atmosphere.  Groups are kept small, so that individual attention can be given to the skaters. Please ensure 3 year olds are able to “Stand up and walk on the floor in skates” prior to registering

Tues&Thurs - 4:15-4:45 pm - CNC (10 classes) - 4/5 yrs

Tues&Thurs - 4:45-5:15 pm - CNC (10 classes) - 5 yrs

CANSKATE – (Learn-To-Skate)

This Learn-To-Skate Program is designed specifically for school age children 5 years & older*.  The fundamentals of skating emphasized include Balance, Posture, Forward and Backward skating, Stopping, Turning, Spinning, Jumping and the Four Basic Edges.  Participants earn badges while learning basic skating skills.  The CanSkate Learn-To-Skate classes are for skaters working on Stage 1 through Stage 6 of the CanSkate Badge Program.

Tues&Thurs - 4:30-5:15 pm - CNC (10 classes) - 5 yrs+

JUNIOR ACADEMY -  11 years and younger

​

This Level of skating is for skaters 11 yrs & under that have PASSED the Stage 4 Badge of CanSkate.  Participants will receive advanced coaching in small groups, continuing to progress through the CanSkate Badges with a focus on the fundamentals of Figure Skating.  Graduates of this program will be prepared to enter into the KSC Test/Competitive programs.

CANPOWERSKATE

A Power Skating Program taught by ‘Skate Canada’ certified CanPowerSkate Coaches.  This Program teaches skating techniques of special interest to Hockey & Ringette players & will help develop balance, power, agility and endurance.  Full hockey equipment must be worn.
